Performance Enhancement

Coaching is not an exact science, but all coaching should be based on scientific principles.

Athletic Evaluation & Assessment
*Cost: $100 - $150

biomechanical analysis

• Comprehensive evaluation process including Functional Movement Screening (FMS™) and Biomechanical Analysis to uncover joint dysfunction, muscle imbalances, asymmetries, postural & movement compensations, and weaknesses that may be limiting performance and/or leading to injury. Initial corrective exercise strategies will be reviewed.

• Professional coaching & customized training plans available ($15-25/wk)

Dry Needling
*Cost: Variable

Dry Needling is a neurophysiological evidence-based treatment technique used by physical therapists to treat myofascial pain. Without using any medication, a “dry needle” is inserted into areas of the muscle known as trigger points (taut bands of skeletal muscle located within a larger muscle group). Physical therapists utilize dry needling with the goal of releasing/inactivating the trigger points and relieving pain.

Preliminary research supports that dry needling improves pain control, reduces muscle tension, normalizes biochemical and electrical dysfunction of motor endplates, and facilitates an accelerated return to active rehabilitation.

Performance Testing - Athletes Performance Index
*Cost: $25 - $50

performance testing

• NSCA Athletes Performance Index Testing to measure power, change of direction, acceleration, and speed. Utilized to identify athletic talent, provide baseline performance index numbers, uncover physical limiters, and create a culture of accountability. The index controls for weight differences among athletes in an attempt to identify, pound for pound, the fastest, most powerful athlete.

• Professional coaching & customized training plans available ($15-25/wk)

*Cost: $50-75

video gait analysis

• Pinpoint problem areas and weak links contributing to poor biomechanics and decreased economy of motion. Solutions will be provided to improve efficiency.

• Shoe wear recommendations and/or possible orthotic intervention will be discussed.

Bike Fitting & Positional Analysis
*Cost: $100 - $150

bike fitting

• Evaluate position and provide appropriate adjustments to optimize power output and rider comfort (Computrainer Spin-Scan available).

• Clinically appropriate evaluation process based on laws of physics, biomechanics, and neurophysiology to get the bike to fit the cyclist and allow for effective application of force and reduction of joint stress.

Professional Coaching
*Cost: $15-25 per week

professional coaching

• Our training system begins with the evaluation process to pinpoint problem areas and this information is then used to customize your workout and correct the weak links while building on your strengths. Integrated training techniques are evidence based and results driven. Workouts guaranteed to be efficient and effective (based on specific needs of individual).

Treatment strategies will be discussed. Consultations with Mick may are performed at his clinic (4028 Papermill NW, Suite 13). Mick can often be found in and around various other locations in Knoxville putting on special clinics and/or working with teams/groups. Call Holly at 865.804.4923 for further info.

Kinesiology Taping
*Cost: Variable

kinesiology taping

• Developed by Dr. Kenzo Kase nearly 25 years ago in Japan, Kinesiology Taping has become the gold standard for therapeutic rehabilitative taping. During the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games pro beach volleyball player Kerri Walsh brought it to the attention of millions. Other athletes that sing its praises: Lance Armstrong (patellar tendinitis & shin splints), David Beckham (Iow back pain), Venus Williams (knee pain).

Benefits:

  • Allow full range of motion in order to allow the bodys neuromuscular system to heal itself biomechanically
  • Alleviate pain and facilitate lymphatic drainage
  • Assist and give support to injured muscles, prevent overcontraction/spasm, and relax the overused muscles to allow for more efficient overall muscle recruitment
  • Lifting effect on skin to reduce swelling and inflammation by improving circulation and reduce pain by taking pressure off of pain receptors
